Carpet shark

One of its outstanding features it is ability to camouflage itself among corals, which make it hard to notice.

Who find it?

The carpet shark is located in the tank in the Access Building. We challenge you to find it because it is a professional at camouflaging itself.

General notes

The carpet shark is characterised mainly by having a flat wide body and an enormous mouth. It also has many barbels around its mouth, quite like large moustaches.

Geographic distribution

It lives in coral reefs and is distributed through the Indian and Pacific oceans at depths of some 20/40 metres.

Curious facts

The carpet shark is more active at night than in the daytime. One of its outstanding features it is ability to camouflage itself among corals, which make it hard to notice.
