Arctic

Welcome to Arctic. A giant igloo, twelve metres tall, divided into two levels, represents this ecosystem in which the beluga whale family is found.

The upper Artic level offers a view of immense blocks of ice, the perfect habitat for beluga whales. On the lower level, this ecosystem and its inhabitants are appreciated up close from an underwater perspective where we immerse ourselves in the frozen water.

Beluga whales
Beluga whales are marine mammals from the odontoceti group; cetaceans with teeth. They are characterised by the white colour of their skin, which allows them to camouflage themselves among the blocks of ice.
Kylu, the baby beluga whale
On the 15th of November 2016, there was a milestone in the history of Oceanogràfic: the birth of Kylu, the first baby beluga whale born in Europe.
