Escuela de verano de la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias

El Oceanogràfic, el Museo de las Ciencias, el Umbracle y el Hemisfèric serán algunos de los escenarios donde se desarrollen las diferentes pruebas que servirán de entrenamiento para convertir a todos los que decidan participar en esta aventura, en auténticos astronautas y expertos exploradores oceánicos.

Los niños realizarán una excursión muy original para buscar estrellas tanto en el cielo como en el mar, podrán pasar una noche durmiendo rodeados de tiburones, vivirán la experiencia de devolver una tortuga al mar después de haber sido curada en el Oceanogràfic y formarán parte de un equipo encargado de limpiar una gran mancha de contaminación.

También participarán en la misión espacial que los llevará hasta los confines del sistema solar con el planetario “Cazaplanetas” donde conocerán algunos de los planetas más curiosos, se transformarán en científicos que experimentan con materiales increíbles, compartirán un paseo espacial muy especial por la Luna en el Estudio de TV del Museo de las Ciencias, y hasta diseñarán su propio cohete, haciéndolo despegar, entre otras muchas actividades.

ROBÓTIK, tu fin de semana más robótico

Ven al Museo y aprende a programar los robots del siglo XXI. Hazle las preguntas que desees a Kevin Warwick, el famoso Doctor Cyborg, el hombre cuyo sistema nervioso lleva años conectado a un ordenador, o descubre los secretos de una de las mejores películas del cine español sobre inteligencia artificial, EVA, de la mano de uno de los grandes expertos del género, Miquel Barceló.

Kevin Warwick, considerado uno de los mayores visionarios de la cibernética aplicada al ser humano, intervendrá en el Auditorio del Museo de las Ciencias el sábado, 26 de mayo a partir de las 12:00 horas. Warwick hablará sobre algunos de sus más polémicos proyectos, como la creación de híbridos de robot y animal propulsados por neuronas de rata. Una ocasión única, gracias al British Council, para conocer cómo la tecnología es capaz de potenciar las capacidades humanas hasta límites que todavía no somos capaces de imaginar.

El programa de actividades, que está financiado por la Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología del Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad, se completa el viernes, 25 de mayo con la cuarta edición del concurso 'Desafío Robot', organizado además por la Conselleria de Educación, Formación y Empleo, en la que participarán más de 140 robots diseñados y construidos por escolares valencianos que competirán en distintas pruebas para saber qué artilugio es el más rápido y mejor construido, calibrado y programado.

Durante el fin de semana también se realizarán varias sesiones del taller “Robots del siglo XXI” en el que los participantes aprenderán a programar de manera sencilla algunos robots LEGO. Finalmente el domingo, 27 de mayo, el cine forum dedicado a la película española sobre inteligencia artificial “EVA” ayudará a desentrañar todas las claves de esta cinta de la mano de uno de los grandes expertos en el cine de ciencia ficción, Miquel Barceló, editor de la prestigiosa colección Nova.

Desafío Robot 2012

'Desafío Robot' es una actividad práctica y lúdica que fomenta el uso de las nuevas tecnologías entre los jóvenes. Se basa en la implicación de profesores y estudiantes en el desarrollo de proyecto tecnológico relacionado con el mundo de la robótica. El concurso está dirigido a cualquier estudiante de un centro escolar de la Comunidad Valenciana de Secundaria, Bachillerato o Ciclos Formativos de Formación Profesional. Con esta iniciativa, la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias quiere potenciar la vocación científica y tecnológica entre los estudiantes.

La competición se celebrará el 25 de mayo en el Museo de las Ciencias Príncipe Felipe. Los equipos están formados por dos alumnos como máximo. El concurso presenta tres categorías: Lego, Libre y Especial, mientras que en las dos primeras los robots realizan pruebas de Velocidad y Laberinto, en la Especial cada equipo realiza una prueba de Baile que permite formar una coreografía entre ellos.

This are some interesting issues raised in the second year of ‘True of Science’, the programme of lectures sponsored by Cafés Lavazza and which bring us to the Science Museum prominent publicists and international experts to give us reliable and attractive keys that is know ‘True to Science’ but also what is not known.

Penguin Encounter

Meet and discover the secrets of Humboldt Penguins. Feed them and learn about their characteristics

Did you know that penguins are faithful to their partners for life? Do you want to learn the difference between a King penguin and a Humbolt penguin? Did you know that can reach 45 km per hour? Meet them with their keepers in this activity. You can feed them and know in detail the characteristics of this species. In addition, you will be able to visit the incubator and bird hatchery and rearing area, where some chicks hand reared before being moved to the exhibition area.

Dates: Every Day. 15.15pm
Groups: From 6 to 10 pax. An activity suitable for the general public
Price: 3€, a general admisión ticket for the Parc is needed

Flying with dolphins

New show five acrobats use trampolines placed at different heights - the highest at 25 meters - to mix acrobatics with the dolphin performance.

'MUSICAULA, THE POP-ROCK FESTIVAL STUDENT'

'MusicAula, Pop-Rock Festival Student' is aimed to music groups formed by young people between 13 and 25 years, and schools and high-schools. Durig the school year, for eight months, musical groups formed by students, and supported by the schools where they study, participate in this event.

The event brings together 30 semifinalist bands from all over Spain. Those that later will come six groups for the final in the City of Arts and Sciences All of them will have the opportunity to share the stage with important artists on the national scene who will act as a host in each of the concerts.

The event, besides being one of the musical events with greater impact among young people, represents an initiative that promotes live music in schools, new technologies and healthy values for the new generations through music.

Animalia passport

Do you know the difference between a seal and a walrus? Or what dolphins feed on? Or where sea lions live?

Thanks to the Animalia Passport you can get to meet these loveable animals first hand, and learn all their secrets direct from their keepers. An activity for all the family and held every weekend at the Oceanográfico.

Once you have learnt some general information about the animals, the visit to the dolphinarium and the specialist sea lion area will begin. Together with the dolphin trainers you will get up close to these loveable animals and learn first hand how they are cared for. After that, you will visit the specialist area for sea lions, where their keepers will tell you everything you want to know.

Dates: Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. Check activity during hight season at our call-center 902 100 031.
Length of visit: approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.
Number of visitors: maximum of 15
Price: 15€ per person, a general admission ticket for the Parc is needed. Just Passport Animalia’s ticket (without park ticket): adult 30€, reduced: 15€.

Animalia Passport can be combined with other areas of the City of Arts and Sciences.

ASTRONOMY IN THE CITY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES CYCLE

The 2011/2012 edition of the cycle 'Astronomy in the City of Arts and Sciences' will be looking at questions as the origin of the solar system, what is dark matter or what's a star, a planet or a nebula made.

Science communicator's experts will share their knowledge with the participants in order to try to answer these questions from current main topics of astrophysics and cosmology.
